How BedaBox gets your stuff to you

Shipping:

We can do this any way you like. We’re totally flexible: partnerships with established carriers let us offer you all kinds of options, from super-cheap (but pretty slow) maritime shipping to some of the fastest air deliveries available.

Here’s what we can do:

DHL

Express – (2-3 days) – we have a very close relationship with DHL and can offer you up to 70% off shipping rates within their coverage areas. Extremely reliable, and fast, worldwide.

USPS

Priority Mail (4-10 days) – the old standby – reliable but economical with package tracking capabilities.

Express – (3-7 days) – faster, equally- reliable and reasonably economical service with package tracking capabilities.

First Class Mail – (10-24 days) – only for small packages (under 4lb/1.8kg). Very economical, not very reliable and unfortunately slow.

USPS Flat Rate – when using a box provided by USPS, you pay a flat rate for a given volume, regardless of weight. Great for heavy stuff like books. Choose from the following box dimensions:

  • Flat Rate box 1: 11″ x 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ (27.94 x 21.59 x 13.97 cm)
  • Flat Rate box 2: 13-5/8″ x 11-7/8″ x 3-3/8″ (34.60 x 30.16 x 8.57 cm)
  • Large Flat Rate Box: 12“ x 12“ x 5-1/2“ (30.48 x 30.48 x 14 cm)
  • Flat Rate envelope: 12.5″ x 9.5″ (31.75 x 24.13 cm). Max. weight 4 lbs.

Beda Cargo – (2-3 months) – European customers can take advantage of the BedaBoat, our regular container shipments sailing from Miami to Prague – if you’re not in a huge rush to get your stuff, this will save you a lot of money. We recommend this for heavy items like vehicles and furniture as all taxes and duties are simply included in the price.

Dimensional Weight

Box Dimensional

What is this dimensional weight you are keep hearing about everywhere? Well, some carriers (such as DHL), use dimensional weight when pricing their shipping.

You multiple the length, width and height and divide it all by 139. If this is larger than the actual weight, this is what you use.

You don’t have to worry about this too much, we’ll tell you how much it will cost to ship your package!

Customs and Duties

You're completely responsible for clearing customs and paying all the required fees upon the package arrival in your country. Sometimes there may be extra duties and taxes levied on arrival in your country – you’re responsible for paying these and complying with local law. You can check out the dutycalculator.com, to see how much duty and taxes you will most likely be paying for your merchandise.

When forwarding your package, you have to fill out a template ‘customs’ form, stating the value of the merchandise from which such duties and taxes will be calculated.

You could save a few bucks by understating your package’s value. But you really shouldn’t do this because you may raise suspicion in the customs office. If they ask for proof of value, you must provide it! You can calculate the approximate customs duty here: Duty Calculator.

Insurance

The carriers we use are top notch. But shipping insurance is always a good idea – you never know what can happen once your package is in transit, somewhere in the world.

When requesting we ship a package to you, you’ll have the option to insure your stuff for whatever value you’d like. This value can be separate from what you use in your customs declaration! Should your package go missing you’ll receive a payment equal to this value (usually within 2 months).

Please note – Our insurance company - ShipSurance, can insure almost everything (even electronics). If you would like to ship a cell-phone, computer or any other valuable electronic device, it will only be insured if it's shipped via DHL.
